Afrobeat musician, Jackline Acheampong known in music circles as Gyakie, has said that she feels disrespected anytime she is compared to other singers in the industry.

According to the ‘Forever’ hitmaker, the industry does not grow when there is too much comparison which she believes generates unhealthy rivalry and hatred.

Speaking on ‘Citi FM’s Brunch In the Citi’ monitored by Angelonline.com.gh, on November 10, 2021, she said Ghanaians should try and support both old and new artistes instead of pitching one against the other.

She added that she does not want to be compared to other singers because in the end, one ends up being disrespected.

“Comparisons are not great. I per se, do not like it when I’m compared to other singers because one ends up being disrespected. I feel we need to support all artistes and not pitch them against one another”, Gyakie said.

She disclosed that she felt really bad when a fan told her she is a fluke and there is nothing special about her.

Gyakie added that she can’t force anybody to like her songs or her style of music.
