The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) Director for Ga East Municipal Assembly, has given mechanics up to November 30, 2021 to halt works and pack off vehicles from the streets of Dome Kwabenya.

Mr. Seth Kofi Osei-Kissi who gave the directive in an interview with Angelonline.com.gh on Friday November 12, 2021 expressed worry over vehicles being repaired on the streets as it is becoming predominant.

According to him, servicing the vehicles in the streets can be an obstruction during emergency situations when those portions of the roads occupied are supposed to be free for the emergency services providers’ use.

Mr. Osei-Kissi further noted that while the mechanics occupy the roads, cars that ply those routes are limited in terms of space to operate, which also contributes to a downturn in economic activities.

He also indicated the negative effects the activities of the mechanics could have on the roads other than on the operations of people saying the mechanic works reduce the lifespan of the roads.
