Zuarungu Police murder: Suspected killer shot dead at Kpatia

The Police has on Tuesday December 21, gunned down a suspected armed robber at Kpatia in the Talensi District of the Upper East Region.

Laayaame Simon alias Yendu aged 34 years, is believed to be one of the three suspected armed robbers who callously murdered two Police officers at Zuarungu in the Upper East Region.

The deceased suspect, according to police communique was shot by a special Anti-Robbery squad, assisted by the Upper East Regional Police Command through an intelligence-led operation at Kpatia in the Talensi District.

The statement added that the police have also intensified search for the two remaining suspects linked to the murder of the cops

“A special targeted intelligence-led operation is being carried to get the rest of the suspects arrested.”

Shooting Incident

Two police officers with the Zuarungu District Police Command were on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 murdered by armed robbers.

The incident reportedly occurred at about 7:45pm when the Zuarungu District Command received a distress call that there was a robbery incident at the Zuarungu Market.

While the Command was mobilizing its men to respond to the call, they received another distress call that two officers had been shot dead.

The officers were identified as Constable Emmanuel Akowuah and Constable Adam Sulley.

At the crime scene, the team met a burnt Service motorbike with registration number No. GP 2311 parked by the road in front of a provision shop.

Also, five empty shells of AK 47 ammunitions and an empty shell of BB Cartridge ammunitions were retrieved.

According to the Police, these officers were on the service motorbike for their routine patrols when the robbers attacked a supermarket and succeeded in robbing them.

Meanwhile, the Police has placed a GH¢50,000 bounty on the heads of the suspected armed robbers.
