The Ghana Education Service has relieved 11 of its teaching staff from duty for their alleged involvement in various examination malpractices in the 2020 WASSCE and BECE.

GES invited the affected teachers to its headquarters in Accra for the hearing before the decision was formally made public.

It further noted that, during the hearing, the teachers in question admitted to the allegations levelled against them hence the decision to take deterrent action against them after going contrary to the section 3.32(III) of the code of conduct for staff of GES.

The statement added that since the termination of appointments of its staff requires endorsement from Council of the GES, the “officers should be interdicted forthwith pending the final determination” of the matter by the Council.

Moreover, management of the GES in their view believes the sanction should serve as a deterrent to other staff of the service.
