The Regional Security Council (REGSEC) in the Upper East Region has placed a ban on men picking fellow men on motorbikes in the Bawku Municipality and its environs.

According to the security council, the move is to help beef up security in the area following the renewed conflict in the past months.

REGSEC in a statement signed by the Upper East Regional Minister, Stephen Yakubu, noted that their decision became necessary following an emergence meeting held on Thursday, January 6, 2022.

Moreover, it added, the directives also complies with women picking men on their motorbikes.

“REGSEC after critically examining the security has with immediate effect banned a man riding on a motor bike and picking another man on the same motor bike in the Bawku Municipality and its environs”

“This ban does not include a woman riding on a motor bike and picking another woman on the same motor bike. It does not also allow a woman riding on a motor bike and picking a man on the same motor bike” part of the statement stated.

Meanwhile, the Municipal Regional Security Council said it agreed that adequate security should be provided to the Total and Goil fuel filling station in Bawku Township.
