GPL WK 13: Hearts and Ashgold return to winning ways as Kotoko drop points in Berekum

Accra Hearts of Oak on Sunday, January 16, 2022 returned to winning methods against Techiman Eleven Wonders at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The defending champions, after a disappointing loss to Medeama SC in Tarkwa in midweek to beat Eleven Wonders 4-1 in their Match Day 13 Ghana Premier League fixture.

Kofi Kordzi, who returned to the starting lineup, scored twice to add up to Salim Adams’ thunderbolt opener in the 20th minute.

Afriyie Barnieh got on the score sheet after smashing home from a close range to give the phobians an emphatic win.

Eleven Wonders however pulled one back in the 84th minute through Mohammed Tetteh Nortey to end the game 4-1 for the home side.

The goals were Kordzi’s sixth and seventh of the season one goal behind top scorer David Abagna who is on eight goals.

At the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi, Ashanti Gold dismantled Elmina Sharks to return to winning ways in a 4-0 scoreline.

Elijah Addai scored in the 35th minute to give the miners the lead before Yaw Annor doubled the advantage for the home side three minutes after the first half.

In the 71st and 84th minutes, talented Seth Osei added the third and the last within 13 minutes to complete the damage for the Sharks.

Ashanti Gold went into the game having lost 3-1 to Asante Kotoko on Match Day 12 in the all Ashanti derby at the Baba Yara stadium.

Meanwhlie, league leaders Asante Kotoko managed to pick a point at Gold City Park at Berekum against Berekum Chelsea.

The porcupines fought hard to draw goalless despite the blues missing a penalty.

Two time League champions Aduana Stars came from behind to snatch a 1-1 draw against against Accra Lions at the Accra Sports stadium.

The Ogya boys made sure, Yahaya Mohammed’s 40th-minute converted penalty cancelled Daniel Awuni early goal to denied the the newly promoted sides all three points.
