The Metropolitan Chief Executive of Secondi Takoradi, Abdul Mumin Issah, has been granted GHS100,000 bail with three sureties by a Circuit Court.
The MCE, who was arrested by the Western Regional Police Command, was put before court Friday, February 4, 2022, for an alleged motor traffic offence, verbal assault and offensive conduct against a police officer on Thursday, February 3.
According to Angel News reporter, Nana Fynn, the lead prosecutor, Emmanuel Basantile read the charge sheet which had two separate cases.
The first case had to deal with the assault on a public officer, offensive conduct and disturbance of the peace of the public place.
He also faces two charges -careless and inconsiderate driving as well as causing danger on the road.
Mr. Mumin Issah, who is expected to reappear in court on March 17, 2022, pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
Mr. Abdul Mumin Issah who was driving a Toyota Land-cruiser with registration number GE 5615-20 is alleged to have driven dangerously and carelessly while approaching a police snap check point at the Kwasimintsim Cemetery on Wednesday, February, 2 2022.
When one of the police officers on duty attempted to stop him, he verbally assaulted and threatened him.
This then led to the call for the patrol team who came in to apprehend the politician and take him to the police station where he was charged for the offences.
