Don’t neglect the sick – Rev. Sister pleads on World Day of the sick
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Reverend Sister in charge of the St. Francis-Xavier Hospital in the Assin Fosu Municipality of the Central Region,  Georgina Donzing, has admonished Ghanaians not to reject the sick and less privileged persons in their families.

According to her, there are a lot of people struggling with life-threatening conditions at various hospitals and finding it difficult to foot their bills.

She was surprised that their family and friends turn their back on them in such a difficult situations.

She made the statement in an interview with Angel News reporter, Kwame Owusu Asante Shadrack, when the St. Francis Xavier Hospital joined the Catholic Churches across the globe to observe “The World Day of the Sick”.

The church marked the day with the theme “Be Merciful Even as Your Father is Merciful; standing beside those who suffer on the path of charity” based on luke 6:36.

The Rev. Sister explained that The World Day of the Sick is an awareness day in the Catholic Church intended for “prayer and sharing, of offering one’s suffering for the good of the Church and of reminding everyone to see in his sick brother or sister the face of Christ”.

On her part, the Nurses Manager of St. Francis Xavier Hospital, Ms Joyce Dam said that commemoration of the World Day of the Sick is not meant for Catholics only but is an opportunity to tell the world to reflect on the sick and the suffering.
