2 police officers die in collision

Two police officers have died in a collision involving a commercial bus and a motorbike on the Peki-Kpeve road.

The two deceased officers have been identified as Richard Dadzie and Evans Quansah.

Reports reaching angelonline.com.gh indicates that a 25-year-old man, Asupah Kwame, was driving a Ford Transit bus with registration number GJ 729-21 with seventeen (17) passengers on board.

They were travelling from Accra to Kpassa.

However, on reaching a section of the road between Asikuma and Peki on the Asikuma -Kpeve highway, one of the vehicle’s tyres apparently got burst and the vehicle veered into the opposite lane.

The bus crashed head-on with an Apsonic motor bike with the number M-22 VR 4, which was being  ridden by G/Constable Richard Dadzie with pillon rider  G/Corporal Evans Quansah all of Peki Police Station.

It is reported that the duo were on their way to the Police checkpoint at Opokuase near Asikuma junction when the accident occurred.

The vehicle and the motor-bike somersaulted and landed in a nearby bush facing Peki direction.

Aside the two Police officers, three males and one female passenger on board the Ford transit bus also died on the spot.

The injured passengers on board the vehicle including the driver have been rushed to the Peki Government Hospital for medical attention.

Meanwhile the bodies of the deceased have been deposited at same hospital morgue for identification, preservation and autopsy.
