#Fixthecountry convenor, Oliver Mawuse Barker-Vormawor who was arrested for threatening a coup d’etat if the e-levy is passed by Parliament, has been remanded into prison custody for two weeks.

The Ph.D. student was arrested by personnel believed to be from the National Security on Friday, 11, 2022, after he landed in Ghana from abroad.

Oliver was subsequently placed in custody at the Ashaiman Police Station in the Tema Region and was subsequently arraigned before the Ashaiman District Court on Monday.

He was charged with a treason felony.

The Presiding judge, Eleanor Barnes denied the accused bail due to the nature of the offense citing that her court does not have jurisdiction to do same.

The judge directed the police to allow the lawyers and family members of Oliver Barker Vormawor, a maximum of three members, from 10am to 4pm daily.

Meanwhile, there was a heavy police presence at the Tema District Court where some members of the #FixTheCountry Movement had grouped, to show solidarity to their leader.
