Teachers and or staff of Senior High Schools using schools or government housing facilities in the Western Region, have been directed to pay their rents effective March 1, 2022.

A letter sighted by Angelonline.com.gh signed by the Western Regional Education Director, Mrs Felicia Agyeibea Okai, noted that the occupants of the bungalows are to pay 10% of their basic salaries for usage of the facilities.

According to her, the directive follows instruction given by the Ministry of Finance for all employees using of the bungalows to pay the 10% basic salaries as rent.

“In line with the efforts to streamline the anomalies with regards to the payment of rents for occupying schools or government bungalows, I wish to draw your attention to Ministry of Finance circular No. 133385/05/06NTR CAGD of 15th May, 2006 requires that occupants of government bungalows are expected to pay 10% of their basic salaries as rent.

“I therefore write to inform you that with edfect from 1st March 2022, all Teachers/Staff occupying School/Government bungalow are to pay 10% of their basic salary,” said the Western Regional Education Director.

The letter, written to all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Directors of Education and all heads of Senior High Schools in the region, also urged the affected persons to ensure that arrears owed are also paid to avoid audit service issues.
