CIMAF Cement partners Kumasi Technical University to equip 1400 artisans with formal skills

As part of efforts to support government to enhance the skills of Ghanaians, CIMAF Ghana in collaboration with Kumasi Technical University (KTU) has initiated a program to train artisans within the informal sector with modern technology to enhance their skills within the construction industry.

1,400 Ghanaians will be trained throughout the country and will be awarded certificate that will help them to seek formal employment within the construction sector or enhance their skills in their existing skills.

Speaking at the inaugural event, the Vice Chancellor of KTU, Prof Osei-Wusu Achaw noted that the construction industry are among the direct beneficiaries of products of the university but they hardly get partnership of such.

He therefore expressed appreciation to the CIMAF Group and urged others to follow suit.

The Technical Director of CIMAF Ghana Cement, Mr Berzouki Abdel-Karim added that, the Company being the first to introduce five (5) grades of cement to revamp the once neglected grading system within the production sector of cement are pleased with the outcome that has caused some of the key manufacturers to produce the various grades for the market.

He added that this training initiative is a step further to boost the skills of artisans with a formal training on the proper application of materials for maximum benefit to the construction industry.

He expressed joy about this partnership with Kumasi Technical University and its IRID department which is also a boost to governments’ quest to make TVET an engine of growth and also provide a great opportunity for employment to the teaming youth.
