A self-acclaimed fetish priestess at Abura Gyabankrom in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese District of the Central Region, is alleged to have buried alive a five-year old boy in the area.

The incident is believed to have occurred on Saturday, April 23, 2022.

Meanwhile, the suspect is said to have gone into hiding since her dastardly act was thwarted by an eyewitness.

According to eyewitness account, a farmer who was working on his farm land is said to have heard the cry of a child. He then quickly rushed towards the direction of the noise until he finally spotted a child buried with one of his legs showing.

The informant then rushed and narrated what he saw to the Chief and Elders of the community.

Speaking to journalist, Unit Committee Chairman of the area, Kwaku Osman said upon a visit to the scene, they interrogated the suspect. She confessed of committing the crime but pleaded on not to publicize the matter.

“We then asked her who the victim was, and she told us that the person was a visitor who came to her with the mother but the mother had left to her home town. we further asked of the name of the victim but she was unable to provide the name”

“We proceeded to the Nana Omankrado of the area and have a dialogue on the matter and later came to a conclusion that we can not go and exhume because we don’t know the consequences aftermath” the Unit Committee chairman accounted.

“The Assemblyman for Abura Asebu electoral Area, Alexander Owusu, also indicated they reported the incident to the Abura Dunkwa Police Command and both Police and officers of Abura Asebu Environmental Services have visited the crime scene and promised to return but never returned.

Following this, the Chiefs and Elders in the area expressed worry over the unconcerned attitude of the police towards the development since they failed to return.

However, the Chief of Abura, Nana Adjei II, is calling on the leadership of the Police Administration to lunch investigation into the matter and arrest the suspect since the police in Abura Dunkwa are refusing to act on the matter despite reporting the matter formally to them.

Nana added that residents are now living in fear and panic a situation compelling parents to stay away from sending their wards on errands.

That notwithstanding, this becomes the second time such incident has happened within a spate of a week in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese District, after an attempt by a 25-yearl-old fetish priest to bury a young boy and a cow alive at Abura Tuakwa was foiled.
