Suspects in murder of KNUST students remanded for two weeks

The prime suspect believed to have murdered a friend at Sewua in the Ashanti Region on Friday, April 22,2022 has been remanded into prison custody for two weeks by the Kuntanase District Court.

The suspect, a 25-year-old tailor apprentice, Emmanuel Boateng was arrested in connection with the murder of  Kwaku Adu Gyamfi, a second-year student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

The suspect is reported to have committed the crime to avoid payment of a debt owed the deceased.

Following the incident, a stick suspected to have been used in the murder and an Iphone 11 Pro owned by the deceased were retrieved from the suspect.

Appearing before the court on Monday April 25, 2022, the Judge, Francis Asakeya, granted a plea by the prosecution to remand the suspect.

Subsequently, the prosecutor informed the court a docket is being prepared to be sent to the Attorney General for advice.

The suspect, who has been charged with murder, is expected to reappear in court on Thursday, May 9, 2022.
