The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has given an update on the injury of Black Stars defender Jonathan Mensah, disclosing that the player is in a stable condition and responding to treatment.

The Columbus Crew player suffered a head injury during Ghana’s AFCON 2023 qualifier against the Central African Republic on Sunday, 5 June 2022, in Luanda, Angola.

He consequently suffered a concussion after colliding with an opponent player and was rushed to the Clinica Girasol – a private hospital in Luanda, Angola, where is being treated.

The GFA, in a statement, said a “CT Scans confirmed normal findings but he would have to spend the night at the hospital for further assessment and evaluation,” adding that he is “in a stable condition and responding to treatment.”

The GFA then called on Ghanaians to remain calm as the Black Stars medical team is committed to getting the player back on his feet.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Kudus scored for the Black Stars to salvage a point for Coach Otto Addo’s side in the game which ended on a 1-1 score line.
