England-based Ghanaian footballer, Tariq Lamptey, has completed his nationality switch to Ghana following fruitful negotiations between the player and the football association.

The development comes a few days after the 21-year-old Brighton and Hove Albion right-back was spotted watching the Black Stars’ AFCON qualifier against Madagascar in Cape Coast on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, having already arrived in the country to spend the holidays with his family.

Following the development, the defender, when invited, would be hoping to strengthen the Black Stars team ahead of the ongoing 2023 AFCON qualifiers and the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Meanwhile, coach Otto Addo will announce the next squad in September for the Group E double-header against Angola in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers.

Tariq Lamptey previously represented England in all their junior national teams including the U-18, U-19, U-20, and the U-21 levels.

He recently snubbed a call-up from the English U-21 team where he asked coach Lee Carsley to exclude him from the squad while weighing up his international future at the time.

In a related development, Mohammed Salisu, Eddie Nketiah, Stephan Ambrosius, Antoine Semenyor, Inaki Williams, Nico Williams, and Hudson Odoi are also nearing their nationality switch to the West African powerhouse.
