The Sunyani Airport which has been under renovation for six years has been inspected by the Transport Minister together with the Bono Regional Minister and a team from the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority.

After several years of closure, Kwaku Asiamah, the sector minister with the support of Madam Justina Owusu Banahene declared that the airport is 100 per cent ready for operation.

He, however, noted that they are waiting for the place to be inspected before they start operations.

“The airport is 100% ready, we are just waiting for the place to be inspected before we start operation.”

Addressing the media Kwaku Asiamah said works on the runway was supposed to be completed in the year 2019 but unfortunately the world was hit with Covid-19 virus which has been one of the major reasons for the delay.

“The airport should have been completed in the year 2019 but due to the covid-19 pandemic we had to delay before proceeding the work.”
