Black Princesses head coach, Ben Fokuo has named a final 21-woman squad for the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup tournament scheduled to take place in Costa Rica this month.

The tactician in his initial call-up list invited 31 players to camp but according to an announcement by the Ghana Football Association he has dropped ten of them to make his final squad list of 21.

The list has since been presented to the organizers of the competition, FIFA.

Meanwhile, the entire playing body is currently in Costa Rica for their record sixth straight FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup tournament, having competed in 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, and 2018.

Team Ghana has targeted qualifying for the second round of the tournament for the first time having failed to do so in the previous engagements.

In the teams’ first pre-World Cup friendly in Paris, they lost 4-0 to the French Women’s U-20 side and rounded up their preparations with an emphatic 6-0 win against Club Sport Herediano–a second-tier club in Costa Rica.

Ghana will kick off its journey in the competition on Thursday, August 11, 2022, against the United States of America before taking on Japan and the Netherlands on Monday, August 14, and Wednesday, August 17 respectively.
