Ghana’s Black Princesses have commenced their journey in the U-20 Women’s World Cup with a disappointing defeat to the United States.

Ghana lost 3-0 to the US at the Estadio Alejandro Moreno Soto in Costa Rica on Thursday evening.

Goals from Allyson Sentnor, Alyssa Thompson, and Michelle Cooper sealed the victory for the USA.

Michelle Cooper put the United States in front in the 11 minutes with a header to render the Ghanaian goalkeeper helpless.

Ghana suffered a big blow when Jacqueline Owusu was sent off in the 31st minute following a reckless tackle.

Six minutes later after the red card incident, the USA doubled its lead through a strike from Alyssa Thompson.

Just six minutes inside the second half, Allyson Sentnor added the third goal to secure a 3-0 win for the States.
