Prime suspect in Wa murder case arrested

The Police have confirmed the arrest of one person believed to be the prime suspect behind the Wa murder case.

He was arrested on Monday, September 19, 2022, at Bamahu, a suburb of Wa in the Upper West Region.

According to a police statement the suspect Kankani Adongo was picked up after extensive collaboration between the police and community search parties.

“Suspect Kankani Adongo was picked up at Bamahu, a suburb of Wa in the Upper West Region after extensive collaboration between the police and the locals.

“The suspect is in custody and will be arraigned before the court to face justice,” the police statement said.

His arrest is in connection following the discovery of a human body in a shallow grave over the weekend in the Wa municipality.

The Inspector-General of Police George Akuffo Dampare and his entourage has since arrived in the area to assess the security situation.

The police administration in a statement on Monday said it has beefed-up security in the area and assured to maintain law and order.

“The police continue to maintain law, order and security in the Wa municipality and surrounding communities.

“We wish to assure residents of the Wa municipality and its environs that the special intelligence and investigation teams will continue to work around the clock with assistance from the affected communities to bring the perpetrators to face justice.

“Operations and combat teams have also saturated the area to ensure the safety and security at all,” the statement added.
