Accra Hearts of Oak is closing in to name Serbian trainer Slavko Matic as the club’s new head coach, Angelonline.com.gh understands.

The 46-year-old UEFA Pro Licence holder when officially named will fill in the vacant position to become Samuel Boadu’s successor.

The phobians have been without a substantive coach after relieving Boadu of his post prior to their two-legged CAF Confederation Cup qualifiers against Malian side AS Real Bamako having appointing David Ocloo as a deputy coach.

Their Africa campaign was eventually cut short at the Accra Sports Stadium despite winning 1-0 in the second leg tie having already lost 3-0 in the first leg played in Mali.

But after receiving series of applications from applicant seeking for the job, close sources told us that the Accra-based club have centered on the Serbian who is currently club-less.

Slavko Matic, barring any last minute changes is expected to be announced as the new technical head of Accra Hearts of Oak before the week ends. It will be his first coaching job on the continent.

The experienced coach had have coaching stints in Europe, and Asia. He last coached Bulgarian side Septemvri Sofia following his exit due to a poor start to the 2022/23 season.
