Joseph Ade-Coker who is seeking reelection for the chairmanship position of the National Democratic Congress in the Greater Accra Region, has said the gentility in former president John Dramani Mahama is incomparable and unmeasured in Ghana politics.

According to the chairman, Mr. Mahama deserves commendations for “preserving and protecting our democracy.”

He indicated that Ghana would have been hit with mayhem after the results of the 2020 polls were announced, had it not been the former president who reiterated his commitment towards the country’s peaceful coexistence.

“It was very offensive, you know, but President Mahama is a gentleman, if it had let with us, we are neither left wing or right wing, we are moderates, but you see that the moderates can be pushed to a certain stage and the militancy would have been activated,” Ade Coker said in an interview on the Anopa Bofo morning show on Angel 102.9FM and Angel TV Thursday, November 10, 2022.

The former football administrator was recalling the bruhaha surrounding the 2020 general election results and the ‘controversial’ announcement by the chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensah.

He said, the decision taken by the EC to declare the results on national television despite sending a message to the former president, was difficult to accept because once the NDC had won Greater Accra region, they knew they were winning.

Nonetheless, Ade Coker, admitted that had it not been the manners of Mr. Mahama to concede defeat, some militants in the party including himself who were in the house of the former at the time of the declaration, a mayhem would have occurred.
