NDC begins regional executives elections Friday

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) conference to elect candidates into regional executive positions begins today, Friday, November 11, 2022.

712 candidates are contesting various positions at the regional level. These include the regional chairman and Vice-chairman position, Secretary and Deputy Secretary, Organiser and Deputy Organiser, and Treasurer and Deputy Treasurer positions.

Others are the Communications Officer position and Deputy, Women’s Organiser and Deputy, the Zongo Caucus Coordinator, and Youth Organiser position and Deputy.

In the Greater Accra region, for instance, the chairmanship position is being contested by 5 candidates including the incumbent, Kobina Ade Coker.

The chairman’s contenders are Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore who is a former Member of Parliament (MP) for Adentan; a former parliamentary aspirant for Ningo Prampram Michael Tetteh Kwetey; Thomas Mustapha Ashong who is the Greater Accra Regional Youth Organizer and Kojo Obeng Berkoh.

The secretary position which is another keenly contested position is being battled for by a former MP for Ablekuma Central, Theophilus Tetteh Chaie, and Victor Quarshie S. Adonoo.

Alhaji Mohammed Juda, Amira Nasiru, Michael Kwetey Tetteh, Charles Gben, Patrick Faith Ametu, Edward Mortey and Gideon Hammond are contesting for the deputy youth organizer position.

The women’s organiser position is being contested by three candidates: Felicia Mekpoi Bortey, Happy Ogboo MacCarthy Darku and Lucy Rio Sebbie.

The exercise however, will end on Sunday, November 13, 2022.
