The Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament, Mr James Klutsey Avedzi has referred the management of the Ghana Maritime Authority to the Attorney General for prosecution.

The referral was necessitated by the indictment made on the authority for some seven procurement breaches as indicated in the Auditor General’s 2020 report.

At the hearing on Wednesday, the Minister for Transport, Mr Kwaku Asiamah, questioned the committee’s decision to refer the management for prosecution without first giving a hearing.

But in his response to the concern, the PAC Chairman who is the Member of Parliament for Ketu North Constituency in the Volta Region said the case needed not to hear the explanations.

“It’s a straightforward issue, that you are to be sanctioned by section 92, so we are, therefore, referring the case to the Attorney-General”.
