John Mahama picks nomination in contest of Presidential bid

Former President John Dramani Mahama has officially picked his nomination forms to contest the flagbearership race of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

On his behalf, a leading member of the party Joshua Alabi stormed the party’s headquarters at Adabraka, Accra, on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, to pick the form.

He presented a cheque of GHC30,000 as fee for the nomination form and expected to later pay a filling fee worth GHC500,000.

Mr. Alabi was accompanied by some national chairmen of the various region.

The former president’s move comes barely 24 hours after he reportedly declared his intention to contest on behalf on the ticket of the NDC in the 2024 presidential elections.

Mr. Mahama made the formal announcement following his meeting with the minority caucus at his Cantonment office in the Greater Accra region.

Following the meeting between the two parties, the minority reportedly endorsed the former president unanimously to contest the party’s presidential primaries and subsequently lead the party at the general election in 2024.
