The Assistant Headmaster for Academics of Kwahu Nkwatia Presby Senior High School (SHS) in the Eastern Region, has been fired for allegedly assaulting a student.
The accused, in a viral picture on social media, was captured slapping a female student for allegedly leaving the four corners of the school without authorization.
The assault led to the victim sustaining severe eye injury for which she is currently receiving medical treatment for.
GES in a statement expressed deep concerns over the development, condemned the act and consequently relieved the accused of his duties.
“The GES unequivocally condemned the actions of the Assistant Headmaster, who is supposed to ensure that students and teachers operate in a safe school environment…and he has been relieved of his duties,” portion of the statement said.
According to the statement, the Eastern Regional Director of Education is liaising with the school authorities and the relevant law enforcement agencies to investigate the matter.
It added that “the victim is currently receiving medical attention and counselling”.
The statement also assured the general public of the GES’ commitment to ensuring a safe and secure learning environment for all students across the country.
