Drivers and communters in Swedru in the Eastern Region have expressed discontent over the poor state of roads from Akroso to Swedru.

Some of the drivers who spoke to the media on Thursday, August 31, 2023, expressed grave concern about the roads which they said have been in a sorry state for a long time due to neglect by authorities in the area.

“This road gives us problem a lot. Every second, we take our cars to the shop. We take our cars to shop three times in the work…,” some of the drivers lamented.

The bad nature of the roads, the drivers continued, forces them to take their cars to fitting shops for repairs leading them to lose lots of money.

According to the drivers, they also spend a lot of time on the road than the normal which has led to increment of the transportation fares.

“From Swedru to Akroso is an hour journey, but because of the nature of the road, we take three hours when travelling…,” they said.

The drivers also complained about the numerous health challenges they face of the bad nature of the road.
