A political analyst, Yaw Asani Tano, has asked Ghanaians to expect harder times as the nation moves into the 2024 elections.

Speaking to Angel FM/TV Morning Show Host, Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah, on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, he stated that, the country should look forward to experiencing “more difficult times as we move into the year 2024, due to the increment and introduction of new taxes by the current government”.

According to him, the government has mapped up strategies to increase these taxes above the agreed percentages the public has been told to pay.

“In the beginning of Nana’s second term in office, we have seen where the government and our leaders have taken us, by way of the percentage we are supposed to pay, but the government has noticed how Ghanaians bargained, so the government has brought out this whopping percentage that cannot be negotiated by the public. But the government has mapped up strategies as a road map for the increase of tax tariffs,” he said.

He said the government should restructure the economy by investing in the productive sectors in order to employ people and charge them with indirect tax, which would be a source of income for the country.
