Angel Broadcasting Network (ABN), operators of several radio and television stations in Ghana, has launched a campaign to solicit for support for persons displaced by the floods in the Volta and parts of the Eastern regions.

The #SaveVoltaFloodVictims campaign seeks to appeal to individuals and organisations to make cash donations to MTN mobile money account number 0557012672 (Kennedy Kwaku Enin) or send food items particularly drinking water as well as clothing, to be presented the flood victims.

Thousands of residents along the banks of the Volta River have been displaced by the floods caused by spillage of the two of the country’s hydro-electric dams at Akosombo and Kpong by the Volta River Authority (VRA).

Speaking on the Angel Morning Show on Monday, October 16, 2023, Operations Director for ABN, Bismarck Nana Apienti called on individuals and organisations to support the campaign and give generously.

“We appeal to the general public to support the people in the Volta Region who are affected by the spilling of Akosombo Dam. Donations can be brought to ANGEL FM, located at Nyamekye Junction, Abeka-Lapaz,” he requested from audience of the show.

He added that those who wish to make their donations kind, should call 0240343513 for further information.

Shortly after the announcement was made, Chief Executive Officer of PIWAK Herbal Centre, Prince Mortoti, made a cash donation of GH¢20,000 to support the campaign.
