The chiefs and residents of Gwira Tumentu in the Nzema East Municipality of the Western Region have appealed to the government to provide them with basic social amenities.

The resident, speaking to Angel News New’s Nana Fynn over the weekend, complained about the absence of telecommunication network and bad roads in the area.

Adding his voice to the call, Chief of Gwira Tumentu, Nana Hinam, said most health workers and teachers have refused posting to the community because of the nature of roads and telecommunication networking in the area.

“Because of poor network, when nurses are been posted here to work, they do not come. Again, because of poor network, teachers also refuse to come to Gwira Tumentu Municipality to teach our children,” the chief said.

Touching on the telecommunication network, the traditional authority expressed that getting access to families and friends through phone calls is one major challenge they are facing as a result of an unstable network.

Some residents expressing their frustration to the journalist stated the only means they could get access to quality reception for calls was by going to mountainous areas.

According to them, they cannot fathom why the area keeps lagging behind in networking when digitalization is fast-growing and driving the world’s economies.

“School children are not using the computers that have been donated to them by chiefs in the community due to poor network connection,” one resident said.

They pleaded with the government to come to their aid and provide them with a good telecommunication network to also make them enjoy the digital world.
