The ruling government has not relented in its support and plans for those affected by the Akosombo Dam Spillage, Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has stated.

He indicated that President Akufo-Addo led-government has proven to be much concerned about the affected communities contrary to assertions of many Ghanaians.

Giving a detailed account of the progress made by government so far, Mr. Oppong said residents in the eight districts affected by the spillage and those above the Akosombo Dam have all been and will continue to be supported.

“Amid the spillage, twenty to thirty thousand who have been displaced have been moved to relief centers numbering about twenty, with three square meals and medical care.

“Government together with NADMO and various organizations are making it possible for the affected persons to get a place to lay their heads,” he said on the Angel Morning Show.

He explained that the donations made to support the people were handed over to the National Disaster Management Organisation for the disbursement therefore there has been fair sharing.

He concluded by commending management of the Volta River Authority (VRA) for their humanitarian gestures in support of the victims in all fronts and also encouraged others to emulate the steps of the authority.
