The operator of the National Interconnected Transmission System (NITS), Ghana Grid Company Ltd (GRIDCo), has said the country’s recent power challenge is due to limited gas supply.

Parts of the country experienced power outage on the evening of Thursday, October 26, 2023.

Following this, a section of the public raised concerns on various social media platforms over the intermittent power supplies to their communities.

GRIDCo in a statement explained that the situation was occasioned by the limited gas supply to Tema, causing a supply gap of 550MW at peak time.

“This will affect power supply to consumers in some parts of the country. The inconvenience caused is deeply regretted,” a statement from the Corporate Communications Section of GRIDCo noted.

GRIDCo, however, failed to indicate how long the power challenges will last.
