Former Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Catherine Afeku says the confusion surrounding the holding of the primaries in the Evalue-Gwira-Ajomoro constituency, will not her chances of winning.

“The people have decided and we will conduct the election at the designated venue…,’ she told Okatakyie Kwame Afrifa-Mensah, host of the Angel Morning Show on Angel TV and 102.7 FM on Monday, December 4, 2023.

The primaries in that constituency was suspended following a confusion emanating from sudden change of venue, contrary to the directive by the  New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong that, the polls be held at same venue recently used for the primaries to elect the party’s presidential candidate.

The General Secretary’s notice read in part: “To maintain uniformity and consistency, we recommend the Constituency Parliamentary Elections Committee to use the same venue used for the recently held Presidential elections…Constituency Executive Committees are advised to engage in discussions with their respective Regional Committees should a change of venue be necessary …”

However, this was never the case at Evalue-Gwira-Ajomoro constituency, Madam Afeku alleged adding that they “woke up to the sudden change of venue” by someone unknown.

“Who changed the venue? Once we find the person we would know if he or she has the mandate to change the venue or he is challenging the authority of Lawyer Justin Frimpong Kodua,” indicated.
