‘Galamsey queen’ Aisha Huang to serve 4-and-a-half-years in jail; fined GHS48k

The Criminal Division of the High Court, has convicted illegal mining kingpin of Chinese nationality, Aisha Huang, of mining offences in Ghana.

The ‘galemsey queen’ was on Monday, December 4, 2023, sentenced to jail for four-and-a-half years in addition to a fine of GHs48,000, Angel Broadcasting Network’s Court Correspondent, Ama Brako Ampofo has reported.

This was after she was found guilty of all the four counts of engaging in illegal mining.

In the hearing today, the judge agreed with prosecutors insisting that Aisha abused her hospitality extended to her.

The court also believes that the suspect also abused her repatriation arrangement for returning to Ghana.

Meanwhile, Deputy Attorney General, Alfred-Tuah Yeboah assured that the convict will be deported after serving her sentence.Aisha Huang

Huang was standing trial for undertaking a mining operation without a licence, facilitating the participation of persons engaged in mining operation, the illegal employment of foreigners and entering Ghana while prohibited from re-entry.
