EC suspends elections in part of Eastern and Ashanti Region

Ghana’s election body has announced the suspension of the district-level elections in parts of the Eastern and Ashanti Region.

The Electoral Commission says their decision is borne out of some technical challenges that confronted the affected areas.

According to the EC, they have rescheduled the exercise to Thursday, December 21, 2023.

“The Commission wishes to inform the General Public that due to a number of technical challenges, the District Level Elections in some Electoral Areas in the Ashanti and Eastern regions have been rescheduled to Thursday,21st December 2023,” a statement from the EC read.

The statement while assuring that the elections will be held accordingly in these affected areas apologised for the inconvenience caused.

“We apologise for the inconveniences caused residents of these Electoral Areas. We assure the residents of the affected areas that the District Level Elections will be held,” the statement assured.
