The Baba Yara Sports Stadium has been selected as the venue for the 25th Anniversary celebration of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
The Chairman of the Planning Committee, Daasebre Otuo Siriboe, announced that the climax of the celebration will be hosted at the stadium, a location renowned for hosting major events.
Although Otumfuo will be exactly 25 years old on the Golden Stool on May 6, 2024, the grand celebration will be observed six days later.
On the 6th, which falls on a Friday, Daasebere indicated that a Thanksgiving Service will be held as done annually.
However, the anniversary celebration has been purposely slated to coincide with an Akwasidae festival.
“On that day, a Thanksgiving Service will be held, however, the anniversary durbar has been planned to coincide with Akwasidae,” he said while announcing some changes in plans for the celebration last week.
The climax of the 25th Anniversary is set for May 12.
Daasebre highlighted that the stadium has been the venue for all grand anniversaries, emphasizing that this one will be no exception.
“The 25th anniversary of Otumfuo Opoku Ware was held at Stadium. Otumfuo’s 10th anniversary was held at the stadium.”
