A member of the Communication team of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Twum Barimah has said that Ghana’s economy is now in shambles under the administration of President Nana Akufo-Addo.
Speaking on Angel Morning Show on Thursday, February 1, 2024, the legal practitioner said the mismanagement of the economy has resulted in the Ghana cedi performing woefully against the dollar.
“When President Akufo-Addo was campaigning in 2016, the cedi to the dollar rate was around 3 cedi but he still claimed the economy wasn’t being managed well but what is the rate now, around GHC 12.38 pesewas…so who is managing the economy well,?,” he quized.
The prices of fuel in Ghana now, he added, further lays credence to the gross mismanagement of the once buoyant economy under the Akufo-Addo administration.
“During the NDC Presidency, for four and half years, a litre of petrol was less than 14gh but in President Nana Addo’s government, it has increased and its now 13gh and above per liter…all these are evidences that the Akufo-Addo government which includes Bawumia as Vice President are bad managers of the economy…,” he told host, Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah.
The solution to this gross mismanagement of the economy, the Legal Practitioner said is kicking the Akufo-Addo government out of office.
“The NPP must not be allowed to break the eight, this is the only solution…,” he said.
