President Akufo-Addo, in his State of the Nation address delivered on February 27, 2024, unveiled a groundbreaking initiative set to revolutionize accountability in governance: the Performance Tracker. Scheduled for launch in March, the Performance Tracker represents a significant leap forward in the government’s commitment to transparency and citizen engagement.

Reflecting on past challenges and triumphs, President Akufo-Addo recalled last year’s presentation to the House, where he provided detailed documentation on road projects across the nation. This year, however, marks a transformative shift towards digitalization. Emphasizing his administration’s dedication to digital innovation, the President lauded Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the architect behind Ghana’s digital transformation.

The Performance Tracker, aptly dubbed by the President as the hallmark of the Digitalization Government, promises unprecedented access to information on government projects. Through this innovative platform, citizens can effortlessly monitor the progress and location of various initiatives, ranging from infrastructure development to healthcare facilities.

Whether it’s roads, classroom blocks, hospitals, bridges, or sanitation projects, remarked President Akufo-Addo, the Performance Tracker puts accountability in the palm of your hand. Gone are the days of relying solely on presidential addresses for project updates. With the Performance Tracker, citizens can verify project status and even conduct physical inspections, empowering them to hold the government accountable.

“Mr Speaker, if you want to check on roads, classroom blocks or CHIP compounds or Agenda 111 hospitals, or bridges, or science laboratories, or water projects, or sanitation projects, or landing sites and harbours, and other infrastructural projects, or whatever this Government used your tax money to execute, the key to your query is right there on your phone.”

Furthermore, the President underscored the Performance Tracker’s role in dispelling misconceptions and ensuring genuine progress. No longer will artists’ impressions masquerade as completed projects, as the Performance Tracker provides tangible evidence of government achievements.

“With the Performance Tracker, we can be sure that never again will pictures of an artist’s impression be offered as projects that have been executed,” he added.

President Akufo-Addo’s confidence in the Performance Tracker stems from a track record of excellence across various sectors. From education and healthcare to agriculture and infrastructure, the Akufo-Addo Government has surpassed expectations, setting a new standard for governance.

As the launch date approaches, anticipation mounts for the unveiling of this transformative tool. With the Performance Tracker, the Akufo-Addo Government reaffirms its commitment to transparency, accountability, and progress. In the digital age, the future of governance is within reach, and it begins with the Performance Tracker.
