The host of Angel Morning Show (AMS) on Angel TV and Angel 102.9FM, Okatakyie Afrifa–Mensah, on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, revealed that he sustained an injury while planning the serialised #FixtheCountry demonstrations in 2022.

Okatakyie Afrifa–Mensah, a convenor of the now defunct Fix the Country Movement, says he got injured 48 hours to the first in the series of the protest march staged in Accra in August 2022.

The protests aimed at highlighting economic problems and government mismanagement under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.

Recounting events on his show on Tuesday, the fearless media practitioner disclosed that his attempt to gain fitness at a gym ahead of the exercise led to the injury in his waist.

“Listen carefully, two days before the Fix the Country Movement demonstration, I decided to visit the gym to gain some fitness to enable me to stand the test from anyone who could attempt to attack me physically but luck eluded me and I got injured in my waist,” he revealed on the show.

He continues that for his love of Ghanaian youth and the betterment of their future, he prioritises the protest over his health despite sustaining the injury, indicating that “throughout the protest, I was limping with my walking stick.”

Against this backdrop, the former Radio XYZ and Happy FM political show host expressed his displeasure with some members of the movement accusing him and other leaders of taking bribe from former President John Dramani Mahama to make the ruling government unpopular.

Describing the accusation as “irrelevant” he added that “Most of the youth in this country behave “inhumanly”.
