Some residents of Assin Breku in the Assin North District of the Central Region are counting their losses following an intense fire outbreak that consumed a two-bedroom house.

The two destroyed bedrooms were part of a 5 bedroom apartment occupied by husband, wife, and children at Assin Breku Presby.

The ravaging inferno which occurred on April 2, 2024, around 13 hours GMT on Tuesday also destroyed valuables such as mattresses, beds, fridges, clothes and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Eyewitnesses who spoke with Angel News revealed they noticed a thick smoke emanating from one of the bedrooms which they initially thought was a burning refuse.

They shouted for help to quell the flames but the rapid spread of the fire overwhelmed their efforts.

After an unsuccessful attempt, they managed to reach out to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) command in Assin Fosu whose timely intervention helped stop the fire from from spreading to the adjoining buildings.

A victim who gave her name only as Ruth partly blamed the occurrence on the frequent power outages that had recently plunged the area.
