The Benkumhene of Gomoa Amanful Traditional Area in the Gomoa West District of the Central Region, Nana Etruba I, has paid a courtesy call on Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama in Accra.

The visit took place at the Office of the former President on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, where the chief, who doubles as a businesswoman, is embarking on a lobbying tour for the people within her traditional jurisdiction.

Beyond her lobbying for development, Nana Etruba I said she is using the opportunity to seek from John Mahama and other Presidential hopefuls in the 2024 general elections, their plans for the people of Gomoa Amanful and the region at large.

Nana Etruba I, known in private life as Miracle Adoma and the wife of celebrated Broadcaster, Kofi Adoma Nwanwani, together with her entourage apart from the visit to Mr. Mahama, have also visited former President John Agyekum Kufour.

In her address, the traditional ruler stated that Gomoa Amanful and the Central Region to some extent, have over the years been lagging behind in development hence her move to see the area transformed.

“After my installation as chief of Gomoa Amanful, I reflected on how the area has been lacking development, so I told my husband [Kofi Adoma Nwanwani] I look forward to paying a visit to you and seek from your camp what you [NDC] have for us although I understood you have been touring the area and made various promises.

“I wanted to come to you personally to hear from the horse’s own mouth, your plans for us because over the years, nothing has been working for the people of Central Region in terms of development,” Nana Etruba I highlighted.Miracle Adoma Nana Etruba I

Just to mention a few of the problems facing the region, the Benkumhene said teenage pregnancy has also become a canker of Gomoa Amanful due to high rates of unemployment, therefore, the young girls depend on men for survival leading to premature pregnancies among others.

She further thanked the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Mahama for granting her and her entourage the opportunity to call on him.

On behalf of John Dramani, the Communications Director of the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi, acknowledged the request made by Nana Etruba I and noted that the opposition party if elected into power come the December 7, 2024, would give equal attention to the Central Region as deemed.

He added that Mr. Mahama’s commitment to the area cannot be undermined, therefore, ” would ensure that the promises made are delivered accordingly.”

John Mahama in his speech observed that the NDC has over the years been an advocate of infrastructural deficit to nation building therefore the fair share of the national cake would be applicable in their next government to enable the people of Central Region gets their share.

“What I would like to add up is that the NDC is not a party that do discrimination whenever we are in government, rather, we ensure that there is equal fair share of the national cake in terms of infrastructure and development.”

He indicated “I am reminding you that infrastructure has always become the foundation for development anytime we [NDC] is in power because infrastructure and development aligned.”
