The Yagbonwura, Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I, has endorsed Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s bid for the presidency.

In a significant show of support, the overlord of Gonjaland bestowed his blessings on Dr Bawumia, who is also the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2024 flagbearer, during a visit to the Savannah Regional House of Chiefs.

Dr. Bawumia, recognised as a prominent son of Gonjaland, received a warm welcome from the King and the local community during his campaign tour, which started on May 13, 2024, in the North East Region and continued to the Savannah Region on May 15.

The Vice President’s visit drew large crowds, highlighting his strong local support.

Yagbonwura Soale I commended Dr. Bawumia for his substantial contributions to the region, particularly noting his pivotal role in the creation of the Savannah Region.

“You are my son and consider yourself as a son of Gonjaland. May your dreams be fulfilled. I assure you of my blessings and support as the overlord of Gonja,” the he declared.

The Gonja King also urged political parties to maintain civility in their campaigns and called on the youth to steer clear of actions that could lead to conflict.
