The New Patriotic Party (NPP) says the call for the resignation of the Attorney-General by the opposition NDC is misplaced and unwarranted.

The governing party says the call for the AG’s head will not prevent the court from prosecuting Ato Forson and his associates in the ambulance case, if necessary.

The NPP challenged the NDC to cease its malicious orchestrations targeted at bastardizing the judicial system if its Minority Leader Ato Forson is not guilty of the accusation leveled against him.

Responding to the National Democratic Congress at a press conference in Accra, the Director of Legal and Constitutional Affairs of the party, Frank Davies said the opposition party’s utterances are misplaced priorities.

According to him the Attorney-General, Godfred Yeboah Dame would not resign and would continue to remain resolute and focuse on the delivery of his work, arguing that in the 4th Republic, he is one of the best the country has had.

He added that “the wheels of justice they say grind slowly but eventually, it grinds to a halt.”

He expressed it as unacceptable for the NDC’s National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, to resort to running commentaries over the alleged tape calculated to prevent Ghanaians from making their reasoned judgment.

“Where is the rest of the tape? Even in respect to the 16 minutes audio tape that was played, it is apparent that there are repetitions, overlaps, incoherence, voice-overs, and distortions, demonstrating that, the NDC has spent these past days doctoring whatever tape they played and even on the doctored tape, the Attorney General never requested the witness falsify, fabricate or concoct any evidence or testify in the prosecution’s favour,” Lawyer Frank Davies quizzed.

He also questioned why the NDC in its screenshots displayed indicated the alleged conversation contained an audio of 26 minutes however they only played 16 minutes.
