A 43-year-old Chainsaw operator, Ismeal Addo, has been sentenced to 15-years imprisonment for defiling a 12 -year- old pupil.

The court, after the full trial found Addo guilty of defiling the daughter of her girlfriend after he had pleaded not guilty to the charge of defilement.

Narrating the facts of the case to court, the prosecutor, Chief Inspector Opoku Aniagyei said, the complainant, Afua Oye aged about 36, is a trader and the biological mother to victim while the accused is the boyfriend to the complainant.

He said they all lived together at Asofan in the Ga North Municipal Assembly of Accra.

Facts of the case

The complainant had traveled to Afram Plains and left the victim in the care of the accused person.

However, on August 10, 2024, the complainant received a telephone call from her friend by name Connie, who live in the same compound with them that, the victim was not feeling well.

Afua Oye returned the same day only for her to be informed by her friend that the accused had sexual intercourse with the victim on August 3 and 4.

Chief Inspector said, the mother questioned the victim and she confirmed the incident to her adding, Addo threatened to beat her if she informed anyone.

The victim also revealed that the accused had previously had sexual intercourse with her on two occasions while her mother was deep asleep.

Complainant reported the case to Asofan police where the accused person was arrested and the case was subsequently referred to the Tesano Division of Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU).

The convict told the court it was only twice that he had sexual intercourse with the victim and pleaded for mercy.

The Court, presided over by Mrs.Dora Araba Eshun, sentenced the accused person to 15 years in prison and asked the convict to pay GHC 3,600 as medical bills.
