A group calling itself Concerned Citizens of Sefwi Wiawso in the Western North Region has expressed its strong belief in the need to entrust the people’s hope in Festus Bumakama Agyapong on December 7, 2024.

The group said that Mr. Bumakama, a Member of Parliament (MP) hopeful in the area deserves to be voted for to enable him as he possesses a “strong belief in the influence and power of the Sefwi Wiaso paramountcy.”

“As Sefwis, we owe it a duty to protect the sanctity of our Paramountcy and keep its influence and power intact. I wish to call on all voters to accept and vote for Festus Bumakama Agyapong come December 7,” the group said in a released.

BELOW IS THE FULL STATEMENT

THE CANDIDATURE OF FESTUS BUMAKAMA AGYAPONG EPITOMIZES HIS STRONG BELIEF IN THE INFLUENCE AND POWER OF THE SEFWI WIAWSO PARAMOUNTCY

The Sefwi Wiawso Paramountcy undoubtedly is one of the most respected and powerful Paramountcies of our country.

The Paramountcy has to its credit six constituencies(6Mps) with five District Assemblies and one Municipal Assembly. It is indeed considered as one of the Paramountcies with vast and arable land.

It is instructive to state that the Paramountcy has on its land, gold, cocoa and timber, making it one of the richest Paramountcies in the country.

Due to its prominence, the Paramountcy has to it; credibility, influence and power. Occupants of the stool of Sefwi Wiawso have always been dignified and accorded with respect sake of how powerful and influential the Paramountcy is.

Thankfully, we have as an occupant a well respected and deserving Chief who is an embodiment of influence and respect across the country. His influence and connections have helped in various ways of which has inured to the utmost benefit of the good people of the traditional area example is his co-influence and power used in gaining of the western north region for the people of Sefwis,Ahowi and Dadieso.

I must say without any equivocation that subjects even have been benefitting from the Paramountcy and the Paramount Chief in various ways all because of the influence.

On the basis of this, it is only fair to opine that members of the royal family wouldn’t face any challenge in using the name of our revered Paramount Chief and the Paramountcy for the betterment of the people.

Therefore, I’m extremely astonished to see Festus Bumakama Agyapong, the second born and son of our revered Chief, Katakyie Kwasi Bumakama II, the Paramount Chief of Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Area contesting the Sefwi Wiawso seat. As a member of the royal family and a Prince per English definition, I find his contest very strategic and positive in helping to speed up the development we seek to see in sefwi wiawso constituency.

Inasmuch as there’s no constitutional barrier, reasons assigned by Festus to staging this contest is reasonable and strong positively! He says he becoming a Member of Parliament will help him seek the welfare of the people of Sefwi Wiawso in it complementary form to support the traditional council influence that already exists.

His reason is a clear suggestion that he has a strong belief in the power and influence of the Paramountcy to help complement it to speed up development both human and non human in the constituency. Due to the strong belief in the power of the Paramountcy, I’m sure he would assign that reason as being why he wishes to contest as Member of Parliament of Sefwi Wiawso.

It is important to state that a Member of Parliament posses no power but only being a representative of the people and at best being able to help the people through lobbying skills.

The power of the Paramountcy and our revered Chief is enough to help Festus capitalize on to help the people of Sefwi Wiawso if he so wishes.

As Sefwis, we owe it a duty to protect the sanctity of our Paramountcy and keep its influence and power intact!

I wish to call on all voters to accept and vote for Festus Bumakama Agyapong come December 7.

Long live us all, Long live the dynasty of the Paramountcy, Long live Sefwis.
