The posture of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) can be compared to agents of nation wreckers, Solomon Owusu has opined.

He noted that the behavior of the NPP and NDC leadership regarding the country’s quest to fight illegal mining, is uncalled for.

Speaking to Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah on the Angel Morning Show, the Movement for Change Communication Team Member called out the two biggest political parties in the country indicating that they have resorted to playing the devil’s advocate under the pretext of fighting the practice.

He accused both parties as key financiers behind the illegal act and supported his claim with instances where members from both sides challenged each other over who might have caused more harm to the water bodies and forest reserves with the practices.

“One of these biggest political parties says they are coming to upgrade the country while the other said they will do reset. The upgrading is meant to continue the galamsey activities with the resetting also going back to do galamsey.”

Solomon Owusu stressed “They [NDC] members lacing their boots to reclaim power from the NPP to continue the practice of illegal mining. If they take a look at the level of destruction to the country by galamsey…all they are waiting for is just a takeover to do the mess more.”

He described the NDC as a “backing vocalist” whose primary aim is to take over from the NPP and collapse the country beyond what the country is witnessing currently with galamsey activities.

Therefore, he asked the general public to consider the mess created by these political parties and vote wisely during the December 7, 2024 elections.

“I plead on Ghanaians, they should be reminded that it is the same galamsey that sent the NDC into opposition in 2016, so let’s follow suit to kick out the NPP as such.”

Solomon Owusu, according to him, Alan Kyerematen the Presidential Candidate for the Movement for Change is the right man to lead Ghana to the promised land by stopping the galamsey practice.

“So it’s okay, both parties should come to opposition to allow the independent candidates like Alan Kyerematen to come and solve the galamsey problem the country is facing.

Give power to the transformation man in Alan Kyerematen because he has outlined his visions clearly to end the galamsey to show the NPP and NDC how it is done,” he said Tuesday, September 10.

He hinted that under an Alan administration, article 2576 of the Mineral Commission Act will be amended to exercise some powers meant for issuing authority to miners to traditional authorities. That way, he is confident Ghana could achieve its goal.
