An Independent Presidential Candidate in the 2024 elections, George Twum-Barimah-Adu, has discussed and explained his policies and vision for the country if elected as Ghana’s next president in the coming 2024 general elections.
Speaking on the Angel Morning Show (AMS), on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, Mr. Twum-Barimah-Adu revealed that his decision to run for President stemmed from the country’s worsening economic situation under successive governments.
He explained that he and his team has toured the entire country, visiting every district to hear the concerns of the people.
“While conditions in the various cities such as Accra, Takoradi, and Kumasi are relatively stable, the rest of the districts are facing serious challenges so I felt that if no action is taken, the situation would get worse,” he told the host, Ama Brako Ampofo.
He further highlighted the high unemployment rate among the youth in the country and noted that he would empower the youth through policies that will help the country grow economically.
Through agriculture, Mr. Twum-Barimah believes Ghanaian youth can be empowered to enable them to help in the nation-building agenda rather than seeing them as lazy.
He said these youth are “discouraged by outdated farming methods”, however, he suggested that resourcing them with modern tools and equipment is the ideal.
He emphasized the need for mechanized farming to attract more youth into agriculture.
Mr. George Twum Barima used the medium and called for a change in leadership beyond the New Patriotic Party and National Democratic Congress (NDC) dominance and promised to address the critical issues facing the youth and the economy if given the mandate.
