Nana Yaw Sarpong, the Personal Aide to the founder and leader of the Movement for Change, Alan Kyerematen has strongly condemned Maxwell Kofi Jumah, a leading figure in the New Patriotic Party (NPP), for making derogatory comments about Mr. Kyerematen.

The remarks came after Jumah, during an interview on Kumasi-based Angel FM, made disparaging comments about Kyerematen, the flagbearer of the Movement for Change, who is running as an independent candidate in the 2024 presidential elections.

Jumah suggested that Kyerematen should seek therapy before considering any future return to the NPP. He even went as far as to claim that Akua Donkor, leader of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), “makes more sense” than Kyerematen when speaking.

“I have mentioned this previously, despite potential disapproval, but I will reiterate. If you defect from the NPP and lose your rationality, you switch to the NDC. If you become enlightened in the NDC, you will join the NPP. Alan should consider seeking therapy. If he recovers his consciousness, he will return,” he said as quoted,” Jumah was quoted as saying.

Speaking on Thursday’s edition of the Angel Morning Show, Nana Yaw Sarpong a man of Kofi Jumah’s age—74 years should have acted with more maturity to refrain from making such comments.

Sarpong acknowledged that Jumah has a reputation for making provocative statements, but he warned that a time will come when people will stop listening to him if he continues down this path.

“Kofi Jumah is not just any ordinary member of the party. Allowing him to make such statements shows how desperate the NPP has become as a political party,” Sarpong opined.

He went on to emphasize that the Movement for Change is not interested in engaging in personal attacks or insults but is focused on running an issue-based campaign for the upcoming election.

“It came to a point where they thought the butterflies were going to die, leaving only one,” he said.

In his interview with Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah on the Angel Morning Show, Sarpong noted that while he could have responded to Kofi Jumah’s disrespectful comments about his boss, Alan, that is not the focus of their campaign heading into the elections.

He concluded by calling on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the NPP to instruct Kofi Jumah to retract his statements and apologize to Alan Kyerematen and the Ghanaian people on the same platform where he made the offending comments.
