Deputy Chairman of the Electoral Commission, Dr. Bossman Eric Asare, has said that the electoral commission of Ghana is fully prepared for the upcoming 2024 general elections. He made this statement on the Angel TV on Saturday, November 23, 2024.

According to Dr. Bossman Asare, the election will commence on December 2, 2024, and therefore this is specifically for special voters, which includes the security personnel, media personnel, and election officials, which gives a total of over 131,000 that will cast their votes before the general voting.

Speaking with the host of the “Yen Man Ghana” program, Dr. Kwame Asah-Asante, during the panel discussion, he stated that there are 328 centres for special voting, and therefore every constituency will have one voting center.

Dr. Bossman Asare noted that this 328 centres has made them known that there are some constituencies that have more voters than others, and in their policies for this year’s election, no polling station will have more than 750 voters; however, any polling station that has more than the number of voters needed in each polling station will be divided.

“There are about 30 or 40 constituencies that have more than the number of voters needed, which has made the voting centres increase to 328,” he stated.

Dr. Bossman Asare explained that they are expecting 131, 000 voters in the special voting process. In his submission, Dr. Bossman Asare asserted that, coming December 7, 2024, is the day all Ghanaians will exercise their franchise.

According to Dr. Bossman Asare, over 18,600,000 voters are expected to cast their votes in the upcoming general election.

He further urged Ghanaians who have misplaced their voter’s identity card not to hesitate to report to their voting centres to cast their votes because there is a provision for them to also exercise their franchise.

“I stand before Angel TV that whoever has misplaced his or her voter’s ID will still vote, and what matters is that you go to your polling station; your name is there, so don’t say your ID card is misplaced so you won’t vote, but the only advantage in you having your ID card helps them find your name easily,” he said emphatically.
