The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced plans to investigate the factors behind their defeat in the December 2024 general elections.

The announcement was made by the party’s National Chairman, Stephen Ayesu Ntim, during a press conference held after their loss to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

John Dramani Mahama led the NDC to a historic victory, securing 6,328,397 votes, which represents 56.55% of the valid votes cast while the NPP, led by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, garnered 4,657,304 votes, or 41.61%.

Acknowledging widespread dissatisfaction among party members, Mr. Ntim revealed that a committee would be established in January 2025 to thoroughly review the election results.

“The party will set up an effective and objective election review committee to conduct a post-mortem analysis of the election outcome. The committee will engage all party stakeholders and the general public to identify the factors and circumstances that led to our defeat,” he stated.

Despite the setback, Mr. Ntim expressed optimism about the NPP’s future, emphasizing the party’s resilience.

“We may not have won the battle, but we haven’t lost the war in our quest for a better Ghana shaped by the ideals and philosophies of the NPP,” he added.
